The Mediobanca Research Area has compiled a Report on the Wood, Furniture and Lighting sector in conjunction with Italian daily newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore. The report illustrates the sector’s performance and estimates for the current year with regard to total sales, exports and investments including in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic. Global furniture production in 2019 was worth €481bn, an increase of 3.4% on the previous year, while for FY 2020 a 10% loss is estimated, to €433bn. Italy ranks second in Europe in the wood-furniture-lighting filière, with total sales of €42bn and exports of €11.3bn, whereas among global manufacturers it ranks joint fourth with Germany, behind only China, the United States and India.
