Mediobanca Group Sport Camp: social inclusion project run at the Beccaria Institute for young offenders for the seventh time
Here at Mediobanca we see sport as a vehicle for social inclusion to create value for the whole community. It is one of the objectives that drives our social policy, which is why this year too we are running the Mediobanca Group Sport Camp for what is now the seventh time. The event is devoted to the young inmates of the “Cesare Beccaria” Institute for Young Offenders in Milan, where a week of sporting activity has been planned from 26 to 30 June 2023, in conjunction with CUS Milano Rugby.
The young inmates at the Beccaria will have an oustarnding trainer for the week, in the shape of the former Italian rugby star Diego Dominguez, supported by his staff. Under his guidance, they will try their hand at a variety of disciplines, including rugby, football, basketball, swimming and judo. Some thirty young people will participate in the camp, aged between 14 and 24, putting both body and soul into the training sessions, in which volunteers from the Mediobanca Group will also participate.
The aim of the project is to promote mutual respect, for others and for the rules, in a setting, like that of the sports contest, where the advantages of teamwork are immediate and tangible.
“Self-expression and the ability to work with others are both extraordinarily important factors in playing sports”, said Giovanna Giusti del Giardino, Mediobanca Chief Group Sustainability Officer. “The previous Camps have been notable for their team spirit, which has inspired the participants and proved vital to them in their day-to-day life in the Beccaria Institute. Our own volunteers have taken part enthusiastically and with passion in the training sessions, providing further proof of the Mediobanca Group’s sensitivity to the importance of social values”.
